Honesty & Shame

Honesty:
It is everyone’s duty to seek the truth
and stand by it.
How can you not understand that?
It’s a sacrifice, yes,
but one made for a greater good.
For a greater Self.
Shame:
Which truth are you talking about?
The one you call sincerity?
Sincerity is only noble
when it sees itself
in the heart of another.
Truth is not sacred
if it carries no weight
for those it wounds.
You speak of consequences
as if they are punishments.
But they are echoes.
Ripples.
Reflections of the truths
you dare to reveal.
Honesty:
Consequences?
For what
telling the truth?
Do we silence the sun
because it burns?
Shame:
You forget
you are not the only one
climbing the mountain.
Others sweat,
struggle,
crawl their way to clarity.
They too want to scream their truth
from the summit.
So who are you
to claim the high ground,
when you too
were once blind?
Honesty:
It means everything to me.
Why would I wish
my pain upon another?
If I could spare them
I would.
But they resist.
They fight what could save them.
Grace comes
only to those
humble enough
to kneel at the stone.
Shame:
And yet
would it satisfy you
to tear every string of their soul,
if they are not ready?
If they are still searching
for courage in the dark?
Aren’t you
even in your truth
guilty
of their pain?
Perhaps your honesty
has yet to find its mirror
in understanding.
Honesty:
Then tell me
what truth is absolute?
Shame:
Every honesty
leads to truth
just as every road
leads to Rome.
But the Absolute
it belongs
to the one
who carries no guilt,
no chain,
no thread
binding them to the need
to be right.
Because only the one
free of strings
can touch Truth
in its wholeness.
Honesty:
Then I am not yet free.
Shame:
None of us are.
But we can choose
not to bind others
while we learn to loosen
our own knots.
